Maverick Band/Chaparral Band

The Maverick and Chaparral Bands are made up of freshman students.  The two groups are divided as equally as possible and not by ability. The bands are combined and percussionists from the percussion class are added for concerts and festival. Members of these two groups are part of the Rustler marching band and have the option of playing in the pep band.

Percussion Class

The percussion class is designed to provide percussionists an opportunity to learn about and hone their skills. The class is taught by Denis Dell and each student is allowed to move at their own pace through a curriculum designed to improve their ability on snare drum, timpani, mallets, and drum set.  The students in this class play for the freshman bands and Rustler band on concerts and are members of the marching band and the pep band.

Rustler Band

Rustler band is made up of students in grades 10 – 12. Students perform on 5 concerts during the school year and participate in the marching band and have the option of playing with the pep band.

Symphonic Band

Members of the Symphonic band are chosen by audition in the spring. This group has many performances during the year and the students are expected to perform at a high level. Symphonic band members are also part of the Rustler marching band and pep bands.

Russtones

The Russtones are the school jazz ensemble. Students are selected by audition in the spring and must be in another school performing ensemble.
