Current Events!

North Middle school visit
Students from North Middle School will be visiting CMR on Thursday February 9th to have a side by side rehearsal with the symphonic band.  Freshman students will also be involved.

Extra Band Events
Bands from CMR will be involved in several events during February and early March.  On the 24th -26thof February the Russtones will be travelling to Moscow Idaho to participate in the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.  On Monday the 27th of February the Rustler band will travel to Missoula to participate in the University of Montana Concert Band Festival.  March 5th and 6th CMR will be hosting the annual AA Band festival.  This year the participating bands are Billings Skyview, Billings West, Great Falls High and CMR.  Conductors are Dr. Joseph Brashier from Valdosta State, Dr. William Bertz from Rutgers, and Sam McKenzie from Toledo with the percussion ensemble.  Monday the 5th of March will feature the individual bands in concert and the 6th will be the combined bands and percussion ensemble.

District Music Festival and All State Band
It is time for students to begin selecting a solo to perform at district music festival or to begin putting together an ensemble.  I would also recommend getting an accompanist lined up for the event.  It is also not too early to begin preparing the audition materials for the 2012 All State Band.  Materials are available in the band room.

Spring Tour
The Symphonic band spring tour will be April 12th through April 15th.  This year we will be heading toward Salt Lake City.  The band will perform at Big Timber and Livingston High Schools, a clinic with Dr. Patrick Brooks at Idaho State University, attend a Utah Symphony concert and visit Lagoon.
